About

Welcome to The Nigerwife Project! We are a group of volunteers dedicated to collecting, preserving and sharing the untold stories of Nigerwives:

the name given to women who moved from their homelands to Nigeria as wives during the 20th and 21st century.

Find out more about the history here (coming soon).

If you are or were a Nigerwife and would like to share your story with us, please contact us here for more information.

Founder & Project Manager: Rhianna Ilube (@rhianna_ilube)

Project Volunteers: Selma Ilube, Laura Leonard

Thanks also goes to the women who have shared their fascinating stories with us; the initial advice given to us by Esme Loukota (Curator & Executive Officer at Museum of Richmond) and many other individuals; and for the training and resources given to us by the Spotify Sound Up Bootcamp for Women of Colour.
